The seminar was held last February 17, 2006 at Engineering Reviewers of Asia

Manila at exactly 9am...The topic of the seminar is Free Space Optics Technology and

the Speaker is Engr. Jason A. Ampoloquio, a reviewer of the said review center. The

topic of the seminar is really interesting because free space optics technology is a new

telecommunication technology that uses light typically by infrared laser light. Free space

optics is also known as fibreless optics, optical wireless, or invisible fiber. Provides high

speed connections through the air utilizing low-powered infrared lasers. They said that

free space optics transmit voice, data and video wireless up to 1 to 2 miles. And because

of the use of lasers, Free Space Optics delivers high speed data communications at fiber

speed. Products are commercially available which support up to 2.5 Gbit/s.Free Space

Optics can be used in situations when high speed connections are needed and fiber optics

would not be available or expensive. Those are the definitions of Fiber Space Optics

thats why it is interesting to learn about it. However the place where the seminar was

held is somewhat pleasant, because its kind a old building, the room is fully air-

conditioned helping us to get comfortable. I predict that in the near future, all the

transmission medium will be substitute or will be changed by these fiber optics

technology, specially free space fiber, it is more sophisticated compare to others.
