Lets help children!

Compassion is an organization that helps sponsor children

in many countries. Compassion helps children in Asia,
Africa, Central America, Caribbean, and South America.
Compassion allows people to be assigned to a child and give
money, and interact with the child. Compassion is anytime
and anywhere. Compassion does this to help children eat
and survive.

Our mission is to help all if not most children live and eat in
a safe place. We would love it if not one child in the world
was hungry.

I plan on maing a difference in the world by showing

people the love of !od through Compassion. "y
philosophy is that no one is perfect. #in a nut shell$ I plan
on using that by showing how these children need help
and that they nor their parents are perfect. I hope that
everyone will be inspired to sponsor a child or two. We
have no idea how much these ids suffer each day.
Sometimes they don%t eat and some sleep on the dirt. It is
sad that we whine about not having i&ods, laptops, or play
stations' I thin that America needs to see what poverty
actually is.

Compassion will address the poverty and hungry of these

children. I would love to mae a difference in the whole
world' We are helping children that can%t help them selves
and can%t depend on anyone else.

I plan on trying to persuade people to sponsor a child.

pictures of children before and after being sponsored. And
if they are willing to travel to different locations of where
we are woring they will be able to see the change.

Africa is the second1largest continent and is composed of about 23 countries.
Compassion+s Africa child development centers, started in 4,5-, now serve
more than 346,7-- children in eight countries. Africa+s ,-2 million people
belong to more than 3,--- different ethnic groups and spea more than
8,--- languages. After many years of colonial rule, most African countries
achieved independence by the end of the 4,6-s. *oday, many countries in
Africa face ma.or problems, from famine and drought to economic
hardships to epidemics of AI9S, cholera and other diseases. Ongoing local
conflicts have also illed thousands of people and hampered the economic
progress of African countries. Africa is home to the mighty Sahara desert 11
the world+s largest desert 11 which covers nearly one1:uarter of the entire
continent. It+s also home to the world+s longest river, the ;ile.
Asia is the largest of the earth+s seven continents, covering
about one1third of the world+s total land area. Its more than
3., billion inhabitants account for three1fifths of the
world+s total population. Compassion serves more than
82-,--- poor children in si< countries in the south and
southeast regions of Asia. *hese two Asian regions are
highly diverse in population, culture and language=
however, with few e<ceptions, their countries are
economically underdeveloped.
(etween ;orth and South America is a colorful and varied region we call
Central America and the Caribbean. *his area boasts a geophysical variety
from rugged mountains and volcanoes to tropical rain forests to palm1lined
beaches. *he population is primarily a mi< between indigenous and African
or >uropean peoples. Compassion first opened Central American and
Caribbean child development centers in 4,?5 in @aiti. Since then, si< more
countries have been added to the effort. "ore than 82-,--- children are
being served in more than 4,3?2 child development centers. *his part of the
world was the focus of >uropean e<ploration and settlement during the 42th
and 4?th centuries. "ore than 225 million people live in Central America
and the Caribbean. *he second half of the 8-th century saw military
dictatorships giving way to democratically elected governments in many
Central American countries. @owever, the rapid rise of e<ternal debt and
rampant inflation are ey problems. In several countries, the desperation
resulting from poverty, government neglect, corrupt politics, and limited
economic progress has stimulated regional protest movements. In response,
a number of governments have turned to brutal repression to end the
protests.
/ourth largest of the earth+s seven continents, South America is home to the
ma.estic Andes mountain range and the mysterious Amazon Aiver. *he
world+s largest rain forest, with millions of species of e<otic animals, is also
found in South America. Compassion began woring in (razil and >cuador
in 4,67 and we now serve more than 832,--- children in the five South
American countries. *here are more than 36- million people in South
America+s 48 countries, and as many as 5- percent of them live in the
continent+s urban centers. Although the 4,,-s saw improvements
throughout South America, such as the replacement of several military
dictatorial regimes by democratically elected governments, the continent+s
countries are still plagued by widespread human rights violations and
poverty.
