Bucket Capacity Definition for Excavator

Bucket Capacity for Excavator is measured in terms of either Struck or Heaped Capacity (See
below)

Generally the Heaped Capacity description is more frequently used. Bucket capacity
which shows in catalogue or Parts Book is the Heaped Capacity

There are various standards for designating the heaped capacity of the bucket. The principal difference
among those definitions is the Angle of Repose (Slope) as listed in the below table (Back-hoe bucket).

In case of ISO, SAE, PCSA and JIS Standard, angle of repose is 1 : 1
In case of CECE Standard, angle of repose is 1 : 2

Komatsu adopts SAE Standard for measuring bucket capacity so angle of repose is 1 : 1
(This measuring is bigger than 1 : 2)

REMARKS
Komatsu used to measure bucket capacity based on CECE Standard and put it on catalogue and
Parts Book before. But currently we Komatsu adopts SAE Standard in global.
As you may notice, in case of old model such as PC200-7, Komatsu sometime put both rating of
bucket on Parts Book (Please refer to the attached)
