RMAN REFRESH STEPS:

1) Take backup of the Indus database.

2) Copy over the production database backup files to the indus Server.

3) Change the backup filesystem to the production naming.

4) Add the production database entries in ORATAB:

5) Login to the Indus database and take the datafile details, user passwords and DB links.

6) Shut down the Indus database.

SQL> shut immediate

7) Remove all the Indus database files (datafiles,logfiles and controlfiles).

8) Set SID to Production.

ORACLE_SID = [idfutca0] ? rrditca0

9) Copy over the Production database "pfile" to the indus server.

10) Check for bdump,udump and cdump for prod DB. If not present create it.

11) Connect to production database and startup nomount.

SQL> startup nomount

12) Check for Production catalog entry in tnsnames.ora

13) connect to RMAN

[oncspdq1]:rman target / catalog rman@rmanmna2

14) Set the production DBID.

RMAN> set dbid=3178638913

15) Restore the controlfile.

RMAN> run{
set until time "to_date('2009-07-02:10:55:00','yyyy-mm-dd:hh24:mi:ss')";
restore controlfile from '/oracle/data/bha1/tca0/backup/rman_backups/cf_c-3178638913-
20090702-05' ;
}

16) connect to sqlplus and mount the prod db.

[oncspdq1]:sqlplus "/ as sysdba"

SQL> alter database mount;

17) Connect to RMAN, restore and recover the database.

18) Once recovery is completed, login to the database and alter the logfile location.

SQL> alter database rename file '/oracle/data/bha1/tca0/redoa/bha1tca0.log3a.rdo' to
'/oracle/data/ispd/tca0/redoa/ispdtca0.log3a.rdo' ;

19) Open the database with resetlogs.

SQL> alter database open resetlogs;

20) Change the sys user password.

SQL> alter user sys identified by sys;

21) Remove the tempfiles and re-create them.

21) Shut down the production database.

SQL> shut immediate;

22) Startup the database in mount.

SQL> startup mount ;

23) Use nid to change the dbname and dbid.
[oncspdq1]:nid target=sys/sys dbname=ispdtca0

24) Set ORACLE_SID to Indus database sid.

25) Remove the production entries from ORATAB.

26) Login to the indus database and restore the DB links and user passwords.

27) Rename back the Indus backup filesystem.
