TERRORISM
I believe terrorism is when a group uses violent forces to attack
another group of people in order to frighten them and take the lead
Unlawful use violence by a group against another group intending
to intimidate them as a way to achieve a political goal
Involves violent acts against human life and violates state and
federal laws
International terrorism activities are foreign-based
Domestic terrorism- No foreign direction
The Okahlama city Bombing- Alfred.P. Murrah Federal building
bombed by Timothy McVeigh; deadliest terrorist attack ever on
America soil





9/11
Terrorists attacked the U.S on September 11, 2001
Hijacked 4 planes in mid-flight
Terrorists flew 2 planes into 2 towers at the World
Trade Center in NYC
The two building caught on fire and soon collapsed
19 terrorist hijacked the 4 planes
They were men from the Middle West
They belonged to the AL Qaeda, a terrorist group
lead by Osama bin Laden
Nearly 3000 people died
The group disagreed with the U.S democracy
Against U.S military presence in their nation
People jumped off the towers
because they didnt want to be
burned to death

THE U.S. RESPONSE
An anti- terrorism act -The Patriot Act was passed in 2011 to
strengthen domestic security
Punished terrorist acts around the world; gave the government the
authority to spy on its citizens
The act violated the constitution
The war of terror, international military campaign that began after 9/11
US and its allies invaded Afghanistan where the Al Qaeda was situated
in October 2001
USs forces soon destroyed the Taliban, the group that ran Afghanistan
and that was supporting the Al Qaeda , the terrorist group and its leader
Bin Laden
Many Al Qaeda members were captured and killed
In 2003, the US invaded Iraq
Captured and killed the dictator Saddam Hussein


CURRENT SITUATION
Al Qaeda is still in operation
Iraq needs help fighting against the Al Qaeda
Theyre situated in Afghanistan
On may 2, 2011 Osama bin Laden was killed in Pakistan
His body was buried at sea shortly after his death
38,000 American troops are still in Afghanistan
President Obama wants to reduce it to 10000
The troops remain in Middle West countries because the
Al Qaeda are still in Afghanistan
The threat represented by the Al Qaeda in 2001
The Taliban might gain power again if the US leaves
