End of Year Reflection


Physics has never been my favorite subject. I just never liked physics. I found
that it was just too much number and really not much science. The real meaning of
physics is that it is a branch of science concerned with the nature and properties of
matter and energy. However I really liked what we learned this year in physics. There
was a lot that we learned through this year. During this year of physics I have learned
how to observe the world and to understand the world around me. Some other things
that I have learned is how to create a hypothesis also I have learned about gravity and
forces.

One thing that I really enjoyed learning was about how to make a hypothesis and
how to conduct an experiment. I always liked to do experiments in science, also I
always liked the idea of a hypothesis. A hypothesis is a educated guess. We learned
how to take the information that we had and to make a hypothesis of what we think will
happen at the end of the experiment. Then we got taught about how do we conduct an
experiment. The steps of an experiment and what we need to do. For example one
experiment that we did was the pendulum. We had to calculate the time it takes to the
pendulum to take on period. We had to do a lab report based on the results that we got.

The next thing that I found interesting was finding out the difference between
fact-finding questions and research questions. We had to make questions for the topic
that we were doing at that time. The topic that we were doing was sound. We had to
make a poster of the questions and the answers. My big research question was that
why cant deaf people hear. And then some fact-finding questions was that how does
hearing work, the real meaning of hearing loss. So then we had to research about our
questions and make a poster of it. I will have a picture of my poster and the end.

This is just little bit of what we learned. We learned a lot through this year. And
now just thinking about physics wasnt that bad after all. I really liked what kind of stuff
we learned and what kind of experiments that we did. It was a lot of writing and labs this
year, but it was fun learning stuff before we have to take the regents in the future. <3
