CHEM 1111
Prof. McClary

My goal for CHEM 1111 is to be out going and to ask for help if I do not
understand the material in class or homework assignment. I have taken AP Chemistry in
high school but I feel that it is necessary to review the course if I want pursue in a major
that is in the science field. With that being said, I will not be complacent with the
knowledge I have garnered in high school but will be attentive to new and old material
during lectures.
My goal is S.M.A.R.T. because it Specifically states that I will ask questions
during office hours or by email if I do not understand a topic, it allows me to Measure my
progress and stay on track, whether it is to keep track of how many times I go to tutoring
or office hours, it is Attainable only if I have the courage to be open and the will to
pursue, it is Realistic because it does not require any strenuous work, and it is Timely
because I will plan accordingly to whenever I need to ask questions.
I am currently on the track to become an electrical engineering major but that
might change in time if other subjects peak my interest. As I was applying to colleges, I
wanted to become a chemical engineer since calculus and chemistry were my strong
subjects in high school. When I applied to the George Washington University, I
disgruntled that they did not have the major I really wanted. But because I was
passionate about becoming an engineer, I decided to take my second choice, which was
electrical engineering.
I hope, as the semester progresses, that this course will help mold my foundation
to decide what I really want to get out of my college experience in general. Being
enrolled for this class might become the catalyst I need to choose the science major that I
believe exemplifies my strengths in school.
