Audience Questionnaires
From the Questionnaires I also found that the main
reason people enjoy listening to their specific genres is
that they find the artists come across as individuals and
always have their own approach to music which can
often be relatable.
From this I have learned that it is important for the
music video to fully represent the artist and maintain
the conventions of the genre. Allowing the audience to
be able to relate to the video itself and fully enjoy it.
Audience Survey
From this I found that my audience will primarily watch the music video on
YouTube, due to this I will upload the video to YouTube to receive the
highest amount of views possible. I will also release the video on music
channels as it was the second highest rated method for watching music
videos.
Audience Questionnaires
Also, I found that the most common hobby was music and due to this
I decided to incorporate the performance using the guitar into the
narrative of the story. As a large amount of the audience enjoy music
it is important to have clear reference to the artists singer/songwriter
origin.
Audience Focus Group
From my focus group I found that the audience will
expect an Indie Rock music video to contain a dark
mise-en-scene, lots of instrumental performance shots
of the band members and possibly a narrative.
The types of clothing expected to be worn are dark
clothes, possibly jeans and torn clothing.
The most common ways to view music are Spotify and
YouTube, but music videos are mainly viewed through
YouTube and music channels on TV.
Expectations
From my research I gained a greater understanding of
the audiences expectations of an indie rock music
video. The results I received has largely impacted the
clothing I will use in my music video.
As the audience expected very dark clothing, I have
decided to choose a black dress for Character 1, and
black chinos with a black and white top for Character 2.
