1. From Uncle Toms Cabin. American Protest Literature.

Cambridge, MA: Belknap

of Harvard UP, 2006. Print
The story began with a mother who was a slave escaped from south and her
conservation with the hosts. She explained why she escaped because it seemed no
reason for her to escape for her masters treated her good. Then from the story
introduced to the perspective of political, it suggested senator to do for justice.
Then it was a dialogue between two boys, when they discussed their country. One
of the boys idea was it was not my country here because the country did not
protect him but slaved him. And he would fight for his liberty. Lastly, it was a
cruel reality that everyday tragedies happened under the laws and the religion. For
Northern people, it was not only thing they could do like denounce their brethren
to South, they could look to the evil among themselves. They also could do more
practical efforts to help the salves.

Through the endless struggle, she asked people her ultimately questions. She
doubted about her belief before about the justice.
This was a useful source, a slave story from first point of view. It had some
common points than the readings before. I could combine them together. It
supported the information of escaped slave.
Yes. I thought it was useful source related to the modern slave. The common
points were they were struggle and wanted to escape from the tragedy. I could do

introduction and history about the anti-slavery movement. Also it covered
different states when they abolish slavery and their regulations for achieved it.

7. Prison Letters. American Protest Literature. Cambridge, MA: Belknap of Harvard
UP, 2006. Print
This is the sum of the last letters from John Brown written in prison. He is not
talking about the injustice of the world and the government, but he truly believe
God and talk to his family not be ashamed about his crime and believe God. It is
an article full of hatred, but an article with forgiveness and love. In his last period
of life, he seems to transform from a violence image to a Christ-like image. He
used Jesus Christs quote as May God forgive them, for they know not what they
do. The power of these letters are everlasting, not a period of influence like his
violence movements, but really express his belief on abolitionist movement.
This is useful. It is very touching and emotional.
Also, this can be reliable. Because the author wrote it in sober.
