METACOGNITIVE READING REPORT

Chapter : 2

A. Three concepts and/or theories that I do NOT understand well (if you did not understand, explain why)
1. Leading Questions. Why leading questions are considered bad items? It only asks for the opinion of
the person answering it and its not exactly leading a person to answer a one sided question.
2. Double Barrelled. Is it advisable to actually separate a double barred question into two different
questions?
3. Double Negative. What is the difference between a double barrelled question and a double
negative question?

B. Three new insights or things I learned about learning, cognitions and/or motivation:
1. I used to think that scale development did not require a lot of research, but After
reading the articles, I
now think that it is very important to research about your topic thorough
because it significantly enhances its reliability.

2. I used to think that scales and tests were re-examined based on expert advice
only, but

After
reading the articles, I
now think that Scales and tests should be done on pilot tests because it
provides an even bigger chance of being accurate rather
than relying solely on expert opinions.

3. I used to think that Scales and tests were tested on not more than fifty people,
but

After
reading the articles, I
now think that Scales and tests should be done on an average of 320
participants to ensure that the tests has less errors when
approved.

C. Three questions I have for discussion regarding the concepts, theories, their applications and/or implications:

1. What is the recommended number of questions to ensure that even though items may be removed from your
Scale its still considered valid?

2. Are there different ways to check the reliability of your scale rather than Chronbachs Alpha? If so then why did
the article recommend Chronbachs Alpha? Is it the most accurate?

3. When administering your test to a large sample do you have to change your respondents or is it okay tostick to
the original sample data?
