The following is a rare hymn containing 100 names of Lord Shiva. This hymn appears
in Skanda Purana, Maheshvara Khanda, Kedara Khanda, Chapter 17 as part of Dadhicis
story. This hymn is preceded by the procedure to perform a rare Vrata (penance) on Lord
Shiva which should be observed on a day conjuncted by Kartika month, Shukla Paksha
(waxing moon), Trayodashi (13
th
day) and Saturday (which is claimed to be the most sacred
and capable of bestowing everything. This hymn is followed by a Shiva Puja Vidhi
(procedure for performing Shiva Puja).
