Procedures: Entering class and starting a warm-up o Rationale: This procedure will facilitate a productive use of time and a smooth start of class. o Process: Enter class quietly, look at board, and begin warm-up. Answering prompts and questions orally o R: This procedure will ensure that all students have equal opportunity to participate in class as well as practice material. o P: Raise hands to answer questions. Only one person may speak at a time. Do not interrupt your classmates. Passing out materials o R: This procedure will ensure efficiency and order in acquiring necessary materials o P: The teacher or a student will place materials face down on desks as students complete the warm-up. Do not turn paper over until instructed. Starting and heading class assignments o R: The procedure will ensure students get credit for completing their practice. o P: At the start of each assignment write your name in the right corner of your paper, on the next line right your period, on the third line write the date. Ex.: Rachel Vickery Period 7 June 20, 2014 Borrowing materials o R: This procedure will ensure that the necessary materials for learning are acquired without disruption to the class. o P: Materials Station Turning in work o R: This procedure will ensure that completed work successfully makes its way to the teacher. o P: Students will turn their work into the appropriate drawer in the tower. Going to the restroom o R: This procedure will facilitate the recording of time students spend outside of the classroom as well as the quiet excusing of students with needs. o P: Students will sign out and in on the log taking the pass as they leave the room. A limit of three people may leave in any given class period. Working in groups o R: This procedure will facilitate the smooth flow of cooperative learning groups. o P: One student will be designated the leader, another the scribe, another the facilitator, and another the spokesman. Dismissal and leaving class o R: This procedure will facilitate the maintenance of a clear classroom and orderly exit from class. o P: Students will organize materials, clean trash off the floor, straighten desks, and walk out of class speaking at a 3 foot noise level. Rules: 1. Respect yourself, your classmates, and your teacher. a. R: Students must learn to effectively and harmoniously work with others throughout life. Now is the time to learn. 2. Come prepared for class. a. R: Students must have the appropriate materials to be successful in class. 3. Strive for success. a. R: Students will get out of education what they put into it. The teacher and the state expect students to work to the best of their abilities. 4. Be punctual. a. R: Classes are more successful when they start class together. 5. Take care of your classroom. a. R: Students learn better when their surroundings are not distracting and when their equipment works well.
Consequences: 1. Students will write or verbalize an apology in an effort to mend the relationship. 2. Students will be assigned a task of organizing classroom supplies. 3. Students will attend a short student teacher conference to ascertain the cause of the problem and find a workable solution. 4. Students with unexcused tardies will not be allowed to make up warm-ups. 5. Students will be detained until he or she has cleaned up the mess or arranged to fix damages. Rewards: 1. Students will have a positive, accepting learning class experience. 2. For perfect supplies attendance students will be allowed to select their choice of one item from the cool school supplies basket each semester. 3. Students will be awarded good grades. 4. Students will enjoy a fun or thought-provoking warm-up. 5. Students will learn in a comfortable working environment.
