Critical Literature Review

Required number of citations from journal articles, magazines, newspapers,

books, theses and dissertations

Master Students : at least 30 citations
Doctoral Students: at least 50 citations

Format:
I One page introduction which should discuss the coverage of the review. All
materials should be related to your chosen topic.

II Selection criteria which discusses the criteria you adopted in selecting the
materials. You may use certain time frame, methods used, locale of the study as
your selection criteria.

III Discussion which should be presented in thematic format. Form themes
according to the findings of the materials you have reviewed. Provide smooth
transition among your paragraphs. Observe coherence.

IV Synthesis which should include generalizations of the findings and
identification of the consistent findings and existing gaps which justify the
conduct of your study.

V Literature Cited which list all the materials you have cited. This should be
arranged alphabetically and in APA reference format.

Formatting:

1. Use short bond paper, double spaced, at least one inch margin on all side.
Times New Roman font type size 12.
2. Provide your complete name, your course, and contact details, email address
and phone number.
3. This should be combined with your research proposal and should be submitted
as one soft bound document.
