Stage One: Desired Results

Mastery Objective(s):
Students will be able to:
1. Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning words.
Stage Two: Assessment Evidence
Pre-assessment/diagnostic strategies: Students will listen to a podcast that
introduces new vocabulary words and definitions. Students will take a pre
assessment using the IResponse App on the iPads.
Formative assessment tasks: Students will create podcast, notecards, and take a
quiz using various apps.
Summative assessment task: Students will take an Unit Assessment of all
vocabulary words. The Unit Assessment will include spelling, vocabulary
matching, and fill in blank to complete sentences.
Stage Three: Learning Plan
Sequence of your assessment, teaching, and learning tasks:
1. Students listen to a Podcast that introduces new vocabulary terms, then takes a pre
assessment using IResponse App to determine baseline.
2. Students create notecards during station time using the Notecards App that will
have vocabulary term on front of electronic notecard and definition on back of
electronic notecard.
3. Students will use Caster: Mobile Studio on Ipods to create a podcast. The
students will write words in complete sentences and record sentences using the
App to create a podcast.
4. Students will use the Spell Bee Challenge App to create a vocabulary list with
new words to practice spelling.
5. Students will use iPods/iPads during station time to practice vocabulary note
cards using the Notecard App, to listen to peers podcast with vocabulary used in
complete sentences, and/or to play Spell Bee Challenge to practice spelling.
6. Students will take a quiz using IResponse App and ipods as a post test.
Strategies for differentiation and flexible grouping: Students will be placed in
stations according to ability level. Some students will work independently and
others will have one on one instruction.
Academic vocabulary: Unit Vocabulary Words
Extending learning beyond the lesson and classroom: Students will be able to
study using mobile apps in the classroom and at home. Students will create a
presentation using an online presentation tool using the vocabulary terms,
content, and visuals to sum up Unit.
