~HERO~
CHARACTER ARCHETYPE
Hero/Heroine protagonist; focus of the story; rescuer; saves people
Ex: Hercules, Theseus, Odysseus
Contrast to Greek or Roman culture:
If a hero is defined as somebody who does dangerous stunts to help somebody else, these Greek
heroes dont quite qualify. They were each really selfish with antisocial tendencies used to bargain
consequences. These arent exactly traits of a role model for children today. Theseus (bottom left)
was one of the greatest. He was Athens great hero. He had the stereotypical hero characteristics
but was also very intelligent.
Hercules (top right) was known for his incredible strength. His wisdom was really weak; he had
great outburst of anger & careless often. He was definitely on the more selfish side.

~HEROINE~
Ares best friend was Eris, the spirit of disagreement. The two often traveled together,
and they often brought other spirits with them. Those spirits usually included the spirits
of Pain, Panic, and Famine.
When the ancient Greeks went to war, Ares often got involved. He did not care who
won or lost a battle, he just liked bloodshed. His best friend, the spirit Eris, the spirit of

cause angry disagreement. The pair of them were nothing but trouble.

Prometheus and Epimetheus were spared imprisonment in Tartarus because they had not fought
with their fellow Titans during the war with the Olympians. They were given the task of creating man.
Prometheus shaped man out of mud, and Athena breathed life into his clay figure.
Prometheus had assigned Epimetheus the task of giving the creatures of the earth their various
qualities, such as swiftness, cunning, strength, fur, wings. Unfortunately, by the time he got to man
Epimetheus had given all the good qualities out and there were none left for man. So Prometheus
decided to make man stand upright as the gods did and to give them fire.
Prometheus loved man more then the Olympians, who had banished most of his family to Tartarus.
So when Zeus decreed that man must present a portion of each animal they scarified to the gods
Prometheus decided to trick Zeus. He created two piles, one with the bones wrapped in juicy fat, the
other with the good meat hidden in the hide. He then bade Zeus to pick. Zeus picked the bones.
Since he had given his word Zeus had to accept that as his share for future In his anger over the trick
he took fire away from man. However, Prometheus lit a
torch from the sun and brought it back again to man. Zeus was angry at Prometheus for three things:
being tricked on sacrifices, stealing fire for man, and for refusing to tell Zeus which of Zeus's children
would dethrone him. Zeus had his servants, Force and Violence, seize Prometheus, take him to the
Caucasus Mountains, and chain him to a rock with unbreakable adamantine chains.]

Keeper of the dead Hades was the ancient Greek god of the underworld. Eventually,
the god's name came to designate the abode of the dead. In Greek mythology, Hades
is the oldest male child of Cronus and Rhea considering the order of birth from the
mother, or the youngest, considering the regurgitation by the father. The latter view is
attested in Poseidon's speech in the Iliad.[1] According to myth, he and his brothers
Zeus and Poseidon defeated the Titans and claimed rulership over the cosmos, ruling
the underworld, air, and sea, respectively; the solid earth, long the province of Gaia,
was available to all three concurrently.

The sage is the old wise character who knows what the hero/heroine
must do. Thales of Miletus is an old wise sage. He is a presocratic
Greek philosopher and astronomer who was said by Aristotle to be the
founder of physical science; he held that all things originated in water.
Being the scientist he is, he predicted the solar eclipse of 28 May 585
BC, which was remembered because there was a fighting battle on that
day. The evolution of Thales would be teaching kids or people
knowledge of what he knows.
The sun god is the god of daylight and time, controls the power of the
light. Helios is an example of the sun god, who drives his light across
the sky every day. Helios dwelt in a golden palace located in the River
Okeanos at the eastern ends of the earth. He is the Greek god of the
sun. The evolution of the sun god would be providing us with sun, to
light our way.
Afterlife is paradise, reincarnation, heaven all are forms of this concept.
These stories speak of what happens after death. The underworld
would be an example of a place for the afterlife. The underworld is the
place where dead people go in Greek myths. The underworld had 3
divisions, the Elysiums fields, tartarus, and limbo. The elysiums fields is
like the heavens, tartarus would be hell, and limbo is neutral. Hades is
a Greek god and he is the king of the underworld and god of the dead
and riches. The underworld has now evolved to being hell, heaven
being up and limbo being in the middle.
As the king of the gods Zeus has a responsibility to maintain order. As
long as order is maintained he wants to go out and play. His position
allows him the freedom to dabble in the affairs of every single god. As a
tyrant his rule is absolute and he will destroy any who resist. His every
effort goes into augmenting his power to maintain authority.

The rejected son. He was physical, manual rather than mental, and
motivated by emotions did not use his mind or words. Ares could be
stirred to fight by rage or loyalty, using weapons for a destructive
purpose. Often ridiculed or called names by others, his self-esteem was
affected. He was the son of a devalued, angry, impotent mom. He is the
embodiment of a man who lives completely in his body rather than the
heart or mind. When not engaged in combat he can be found wallowing
in alcohol and women.

Prometheus the god stole fire from heaven and bestowed it on humans.
In punishment, Zeus chained him to a rock, where an eagle clawed
unceasingly at his liver, until Herakles freed him. His attempts to better
the lives of his creation brought him into direct conflict with Zeus. As
punishment for these rebellious acts, Zeus ordered the creation of
Pandora as a means to deliver misfortune into the house of man, or as a
way to cheat mankind of the company of the good spirits.

The Antagonist of a piece or folklore. Medusa was a monster, gorgon, generally
described as having the face of a hideous female with living venomous snakes on her
head. Looking into her eyes would turn you into stone. Medusa was beheaded by the
hero Perseus, who thereafter used her head as a weapon until he gave it to the
goddess Athena to place on her shield. In classical antiquity the image of the head of
Medusa appeared in the evil-averting device known as the Gorgonian. the jealous
aspiration of many suitors," but because Poseidon had raped her in Athena's temple
- the Mischief maker for mortals and gods. Often intelligent and funny, the not so
polite joker, Can be good or evil. The trickster breaks the rules of the gods or nature. .
Hermes stole Apollo's cattle when he was born. He jumped out of his crib and hid the
cattle. Just when Apollo realized, Hermes jumped back into his crib and pretended to
be innocent. Apollo took Hermes by the scruff of the neck and took him to his father,
Zeus. Apollo said he was unhappy with the way he was being treated. Instead of
punishing young Hermes, Zeus just laughed and found the matter funny. The
evolution of Hermes is the joker, shape shifter.
Stories that talk about the end of the world. This usually happens because mankind
has become corrupt and involves supernatural force and wide-spread natural
disaster. In Greek mythology, Deucalion (Ancient Greek) was the son of Prometheus;
ancient sources name his mother as Clymene, Hesione, or Pronoia. The anger of
Zeus was ignited by the hubris of the Pelasgians, so he decided to put an end to the
Bronze Age. Lycaon, the king of Arcadia, had sacrificed a boy to Zeus, who was
appalled by this savage offering. Zeus unleashed a deluge, so that the rivers ran in
torrents and the sea flooded the coastal plain, engulfed the foothills with spray, and
washed everything clean. The Evolution of Deucalion would be the Apocalypse
