Nature of Research Work Done: Studying the effect of centrally active compounds on
the circadian locomotor activity rhythm in the mammalian system.

Reason for Applying to Attend the SERC School: Intensive training at the SERC
School, under the aegis of noted scientists in the field, will help the applicant learn
techniques essential to his current topic of research and also receive ample understanding
of other techniques relevant to the field that he may later need for higher, and more varied
study in Chronobiology. The candidate also expects to benefit vastly from discussions with
the faculty regarding advanced techniques and topics, leading to the generation of further
basic and advanced research ideas.

The candidate hopes to better understand the basic theories behind the statistical analyses
used in Chronobiology, and to receive from the faculty an idea of the latest lines of
scientific exploration and thought in the field. Through interaction with the faculty, the
candidate intends to observe, and learn from, their various work cultures and philosophies,
and thus improve his own research standards and methodologies. This will in turn enable
the candidate to systematically investigate his research problem using internationally
accepted and acclaimed advanced techniques.
