PRESS STATEMENT:

DEATH THREATS TO NATION REPORTER IN GARISSA

Northern Forum for Democracy would like raise a red flag on the dangerous and reckless phone
call made to the Nation reporter in Garissa County a Mr. Abdi Malik over his reporting on the
Garissa public perception of the Supreme Court judgment on the Garissa Governors petition
case.
It a worrying trend that, a cabinet member of the Garissa county government could threaten
this young reporter for just doing his journalistic calling through his timely reporting of the
residents feeling over the judgment. Such hateful utterance by one who is supposedly to be a
senior public servant is dangerous and make all residents of Garissa fearful and insecure given
that, persons who could not even spare members of the third estate will definitely harm any
other innocent citizen of Garissa county and a threat to National peace and order.
Kenya is today a wounded country and any such despicable utterance in a place like Garissa
that is prone to frequent hit squad killings is a worry to all of us and indeed the Nation reporter
in Garissa has his life under real threat.
We therefore demand the Commissioner of Police a Mr. Kimaiyo and the Public Prosecutor a
Mr. Tobiko to urgently initiate investigations to inform criminal proceedings against the culprit
so that, Kenyans in Garissa County can be rest assured that, the Supreme court win of Governor
Nadhif Jama is not a threat to our lives!!!

Thanks.
