The study Sample includes total 51 Observations recorded on each of the variables whose
description is as given below.

Regular observations of employee behavior were made over the 12
month period by independent trained objective observers. This
represents the percentage of those behaviors that were deemed to
represent safe acts by the observer

Operations for supervisors differed in terms of activities and risks.
Risks ranged from low (1) office-related activities to high (7) manual
material handling activities
Safety Climate
Average employee perception of the supervisor's priority for safety
and health over the 12 month period. Climate was measured 4 times
during the 12 month period

The descriptive analysis was conducted for these variables. Table 1 shows descriptive statistics
for each of these variables.

The average number of employees at all manufacturing locations was 24.02 with a standard
deviation of 7.50 employees. The minimum and maximum number of employees at various
manufacturing locations was 5 and 45 respectively, with a range of 40 employees.
The average number of hours worked for all manufacturing locations was 49960.78 with
standard deviation 15590.24 hours. The minimum and maximum hours worked was 10400 and
93600 respectively with a range of 83200 hours.
Regular observations of employee behavior were made over the 12 month period by
independent trained objective observers. The average percentage of those behaviors that were
deemed to represent safe acts by the observer was 87% with a standard deviation of 14%. The
minimum and maximum percentage was found to be 42% and 100 % respectively with a range
of 58%.
The average rate of injuries per 100 employees over the 12 month period for all manufacturing
units was found to be 76.92 with a standard deviation of 17.47. The minimum and maximum
injury rate per 100 employees over 12 months period was found to be 0 and 76.92 respectively
with a 76.92.
For all manufacturing units, the Average employee perception of the supervisor's priority for
safety and health over the 12 month period was found to be 4.69 with a standard deviation of
1.03. Climate was measured 4 times during the 12 month period. The minimum and maximum
perception of the supervisor's priority for safety and health over the 12 month period was found
to be 2.50 and 6.80 respectively with a range of 4.30.
