Section: Commemorations and the nature of the

ANZAC Legend.

Before printing off your relevant activities, you must be able
to answer yes to all of the questions in the checklist below,
complete any relevant questions and sign and date it. Once
you have completed it, you must show it to the teacher who
will allow you to print off your work to place in your portfolio.

Have you read through the answers that you completed for activity 29?
Do you know why ANZAC Day is April 25
th
every year?
Do you understand the link between the ANZAC Legend and the Gallipoli campaign?
Have you brainstormed ways that Australians commemorate WW1?
Have you made a list of these in a Microsoft Word document?
Have you written a paragraph about what happens on ANZAC Day?
Does your paragraph contain your own opinion about why Australia honours those who
died in WW1?
Is your paragraph at least five sentences long and does it contain a topic and concluding
sentence?
Have you watched the two clips which show the Last Post, Reveille and the Ode of
Remembrance?
Have you thought about what these words and tunes symbolise?
Have you decided which creation you would like to create to commemorate the
ANZACS?
Have you created your commemorative creation?
Have you written a paragraph which explains what your creation is and how it
commemorates the ANZACs?
Have you viewed the clip entitled, Historians debate importance of ANZAC Legend?
Have you thought about how the perspectives shown in the clip are similar to or different
from your own?
Have you written two sentences which reveal your personal views on the ANZAC
Legend?
Do you feel you have an understanding of the way Australians commemorate WW1 and
the nature of the ANZAC Legend?
