Laboratory Exercise on 3D CONFORMAL TRANSFORMATION (Individual)

Due on February 5, 2008 (Tuesday), 4pm. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Perform absolute orientation on the stereomodel using points 1, 2, 3 as control points.

Model coordinates of 1, 2, and 3 are listed below, along with their ground coordinates.
Requirement:
• Obtain the seven parameters of the 3d conformal coordinate transformation.
Perform three iterations.
• Using the seven parameters, calculate the ground coordinates of points 4 and 5.

Initial approximations:

Pointers:
• Consult Appendix C of Elements of Photogrammetry by Wolf and Dewitt, p.534-
543.
• Use spreadsheet programs (Excel, OpenOffice)
• Some of the partial derivatives follow obvious patterns. Discover and exploit
these to make the computations easier.
• Intelligent questions will be entertained
