I am writing this recommendation letter at the request of Brittney Darner for the Steve J. Borowie Memorial Scholarship. I had Brittney in a class last fall 2013, and will have her in two of my classes this upcoming semester. I found Brittney to be a highly driven student who pushes herself to produce quality work and seeks opportunities for growth in her desired field outside of the classroom.
When she was a student in my class, she participated in group work that required skill sets in organization, cooperation, and dependability. Brittney rose to meet the challenges that come with developing a public relations campaign and never hesitated to ask for help. Brittney is outgoing, generous, and a vivacious public speaker. She also led her team to strategize creative ideas that would not only earn them high marks, but help them stand out among their peers.
Outside of the classroom, Brittney was involved in Spinnaker Media. She spoke to students about the opportunities at Spinnaker Media, and had great enthusiasm in being involved in on-campus activities that develop career skill sets. Brittney has always been oriented on finding internships outside of the senior requirement, and possesses great determination in succeeding despite a difficult job market.
Brittney Darner would be a great recipient of the Steve J. Borowie Memorial Scholarship due to her diligence in her schoolwork, her dedication to find experiences to further her career, and her enthusiasm about the University. She is a great example of how public relations students should use their time in college to the fullest and never miss out on opportunities to grow.
Thank you for this opportunity to support Brittney for your scholarship. If you have any questions or require more information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Roberta Reid Doggett, APR Senior Instructor, Public Relations Department of Communication
