Advanced Art

Art Materials: we ask that each student bring in $45 at the beginning of the
year. This covers all the materials to be used by the student for the entire
year for projects such as ceramics, printmaking, painting, drawing, and
collage. Your contributions are what make this class possible and are
greatly appreciated!
*Checks can be made out to Analy HS. Cash is fine, a receipt will be
provided.
Class Objectives are to become better observers, to further explore various
art techniques, become more creative, gain confidence in abilities of
expression and visual representation, to make connections between art and
life, explore careers in art, and to become more knowledgeable about art
history and the art of other cultures.
Semester 1: drawing, design, value, perspective and proportion, acrylic
painting, and printmaking.
Semester 2: Painting, block printing, ceramics, collage, art history,
watercolor, and screen-printing, Independent Projects.
Journals and Portfolios: Journals will be provided in the beginning of the
year and will stay in the classroom for warm-up drawings and idea building.
Students will make a portfolio to keep work in; this will stay in the
classroom and be taken home at the end of the year.
Grading policy/methods of evaluation; Points will be given for each studio
assignment, journals, exams and class participation. Points given over the
total possible determine the letter grade:
90 100=A, 80-89=B, 70-79=C, 60-69=D, 0-59=F.
The score on each assignment is based on a list of criteria for the
assignments particular objectives and will always include effort,
commitment, and use of time.
Make up Policy: It is the students responsibility to find out what was
missed during an absence and to make it up either during tutorial or at home.
This work must be turned in no later than 3 schools days after the students
return, unless otherwise stated.
