Proposal Format and Audience Requested Presentation Format * PRE-CONFERENCE INSTITUTES are two hours of in-depth, interactive sessions Thursday morning designed to provide a more in-depth exploration of literacy topics or related issues. Separate registration is required for Pre-Conference Institutes. CONFERENCE SESSIONS are one-hour presentations on Thursday, Friday or Saturday, designed to provide an overview of given topics and may include opportunities for active involvement. Previous conference sessions have included research reports, workshops, demonstrations, simulations, panel discussions and book talks.

Proposal Abstract * Provide a 25-30 word descriptive statement for the conference program that gives a clear picture of the content of the proposed session. Engage in home visits to create home-school partnerships! In this interactive workshop, learn how to use home visits as a tool for increasing student achievement.
Proposal Content * What content will be presented?
--Presenter will focus on using home visits to create home- school partnerships. --Presenter will model how to conduct an effective home visit. --Presenter will share supportive follow-up activities and events. --Presenter will provide resources to participants.
Proposal Process * How will participants be engaged with the learning?
--Participants will participate in an Icebreaker to establish commonalities. --Participants will have multiple opportunities for Turn & Talk. --Participants will explore materials that might be used in a home visit. --Participants will reflect on how home visits might work in their settings.
