WORK INVOLVED : 1. Studying working of automatic transmission (CVT) . 2. On the basis of target top speed and engine power given calculating overall gear ratio and arriving at number of teeth and chain length required for gears . 3. Calculation of gradeability and torque at different gear ratios as CVT is having multiple gear ratios at the same time within a particular range . 4. Designing Gear Shifter for AT. 5. Working under rules and regulations of BAJA SAE.
LESSONS LEARNT/OUTCOMES: Improper locking of front to wheels as vehicle need to be shifted in neutral. Design failure of gear shifter which shows importance of testing vehicle. Importance of working under deadlines. Leading team .
Zeroshift transmission OBJECTIVE :Literature review and suggest improvisations.
WORK INVOLVED : 1. Understanding working of different manual transmissions and automatic transmissions. 2. Understanding working mechanism of zeroshift which is an automated manual transmission . 3. Listing out advantages of zeroshift over other transmissions and fuel economy, shift quality, performance etc.
IMPROVISATIONS : 1. Integrating zeroshift with slipper clutches to avoid to avoid fishtailing /sliding during engine braking . 2. Changing material of dog clutch teeth from regular steel to Carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide.
Nitro Electric Regenerative System (NERS) OBJECTIVE: To study the system and to do analysis on Hypermesh and Nastran for cylinder mount assembly.
WORK INVOLVED : 1. Study of different hybrid technologies in market . 2. Formation of Indian drive cycle using DAQ system. 3. Validation and calculation of energy recovered during regenerative braking and increase in fuel efficiency . 4. In depth study of working of NERS Technology. 5. Meshing of cylinder mount assembly and Tranfer case using Hypermesh. 6. Modal analysis of above assemblies and analysis using NASTRAN . OUTCOMES: 1. Technology being electric is independent of non renewable source of energy . 2. Knowledge of working in HYPERMESH and NASTRAN . 3. On going International Journal publication .
