2015-2017 School Plan
NSW Public Schools work in 3 year
improvement cycles. As a school we set
targets to ensure that our students are
meeting benchmarks and showing
ongoing growth in a range of academic
and social areas. Over the coming
weeks parents and community members
will be asked to make comment on a
number of areas as the school evaluates
its successes and develops new priority
areas. There will be a number of surveys
sent home either electronically or paper
based. If you have any issues or areas
that the feel the school needs to address
in its new plan it is very important that
you contribute to these surveys.

Parking in Pandel
This term 5/6BM will be reading a novel
called 68 Teeth by James Moloney which
is set in the Gulf Country of far northern
Queensland. Before reading the text we
have been learning about what life is like
for the characters. We have been
interpreting tables, maps and graphs
when studying the tropical wet and dry
seasonal pattern and researching
estuarine crocodiles.

Our science unit is called 'It's Electrifying'
and the students have shown great
enthusiasm so far! We have drawn a
cutaway diagram of a torch which shows
both its inside and outside workings and
have learnt how a battery works. In the
coming weeks we will be constructing our
own electrical circuits and creating circuit
diagrams using symbols for things such as
the wire, battery, bulb and switch.
Please make sure that when dropping
your kids in Pandel Avenue that drivers
adhere to the kiss and ride rules.

Stay with your car
Do not park for longer than 2
minutes

Local highway patrol regularly
monitor this street.

Active After School Communities
The Active After School Communities (AASC) program will begin again next week.
This term primary students are able to choose from croquet which will run on a
Tuesday afternoon and cricket, which will run on a Thursday afternoon. The AASC
program is run by the Australian Sports Commission and provides opportunities for
primary school children to participate in free sport and other structured physical
activity, after school. Students are taught by qualified coaches and the program has
been very successful in terms one and two. There are a few positions left in the
program, so please send in a permission note if you would like your child to be
involved.

School Banking.
New rewards released in term 3

The School Banking program provides children with an opportunity to make
deposits into their personal Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account at school
each week. The program is about how often your child makes deposits, not how
much they deposit.

To encourage regular savings behaviour the program offers an exciting Rewards
Program. Every deposit earns your child a Dollarmites token, and once theyve
collected 10 tokens they can redeem them for a reward.

Rewards available in term 3 are:

Handball (whilst stock lasts)
Scented Pencils (whilst stock lasts)
Shark or Penguin Keyring
Whale Shark Pencil Case
Moneybox (new release)
Swimming Bag (new release)

Please send in your redemption card and
tokens on banking day. Rewards will be delivered in 1-2 weeks. Pooling of tokens
is not allowed.

If you wish for your child to participate in the program Youthsaver accounts can
be opened at any branch of the Commonwealth Bank, or by calling 132221.
Existing customers with NetBank access can open accounts online.
