Kurt VandenBussche is the Global R&D Director for Materials Characterization at
UOP LLC, A Honeywell Company, based in Des Plaines, Illinois, USA.
After obtaining a Masters and PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ghent, Belgium, Kurt joined the Shell Research and Technology Center in Amsterdam, where he worked on refinery process modeling, catalyst development and catalyst selection support for the refineries in the Shell Group. In 1996, he moved to UOP where he started as a reaction engineering specialist and has since held a number of technical and R&D managerial roles.
Kurt is a co-inventor on some 60 US patents and has co-authored some 20 scientific papers. He has acted as guest editor for Wiley Inc in the area of process intensification and is currently serving as the president of ISCRE Inc.
