This course is popular among ASL students as it helps them to develop valuable study skills such as video
filming/editing, photo editing, summarizing and extracting key information from texts. In addition, students
then produce signed information rich with classifiers and NMS to equate the video text. The bottom line of
this course is to justify that ASL has great cinematic values to stretch the mind of the learners and viewers
alike.

Course Outcomes:
American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) first published Standards for Foreign
Language Learning: Preparing for the 21st Century in 1996. The standards were developed from ACTFLs
more than 50 years involvement in the teaching of foreign languages in the United States, and now have
been widely applied in the schools and used by teachers, administrators, testers, and policymakers.
ACTFL identified five goals in foreign language teaching and education: communication, cultures,
connection, comparison, and community, which is widely known as 5C standards or 5Cs. This course

Teaching Methods:
1. CommunicativeLanguageTeaching(CLT)
2. InteractiveLearning

1.CommunicativeLanguageTeaching(CLT):
One of the examples would be the introduction of authentic texts into the learning situation. By using
ASLVideo Weave, the student will have the opportunity to manifest the authentic text with an innovative
technology approach to maximize the synthesis of classifiers and NMS. In due process, the students will be
receiving a healthy dosage of feedback on the students production accuracy and fluency. In turn, their
comprehension skills will increase. The context will be done handson and relative to the realworld of ASL

users. Therefore the students will be able to produce and comprehend the target language of American Sign
Languageeffectively.

2.InteractiveLearning:
Interactive Learning is a pedagogical approach that incorporates Communicative competence developed
through interactive nature of communication. Interactive Learning has evolved out of the hypergrowth in the
use of digital technology and virtual communication, particularly by students. Beginning around 2000,
students entering institutes of higher education have expected that interactive learning will be an integral part
of their education. The use of interactive technology in learning for these students is as natural as using a
pencil and paper were to past generations. Furthermore, we use the video as our paper to record the sign
language context. Interactive ASL Learning is in a great position nowadays to expand with affordable
technologies and faster internet access. The ASL interactivity opportunities for both face to face and via
online has grown rapidly. The students will benefit greatly with the fundamental language and technological
itemsasfollowing:
