Dear Sir/Madam,

I am an enthusiastic applicant of the early career fellowship program. I am pursuing my

doctoral studies on the structure function aspects and in vivo significance of
heteropolymer expression alpha-crystallin, a small heat shock protein (sHsp) in the eye
lens. I will be submitting my thesis in a month from now.

During my doctoral studies I was fascinated by this small heat shock protein alpha-
crystallin on its ability to protect client proteins under various stress conditions and I got
interested to understand the small heat shock proteins and their role in the disease
pathogenesis bearing in mind the significant role of sHsp in vital cellular processes. In
this regard, I propose to submit an early career fellowship full application entitled
“Understanding the role of small heat shock proteins in diabetic complications.” Dr. G
Bhanuprakash Reddy, Scientist, National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, India, has
consented to be my post-doctoral mentor.

I have completed and submitted my application through the eGrants and I understand
that our administration has submitted the grant to The Wellcome Trust/DBT India
