Socials 11: Plotting the Story of Canada in the Post-War World

During the post-war period, Canada was trying to carve out a place in world politics and
create a national identity for itself. In this assignment, you will tell the story of how
Canada emerged after the Second World War, to become a key international player.
Objectives and Outcomes:
1. Assess Canadas role in world affairs with reference to human rights, the United
Nations, the Cold War, and modern conicts.
2. Identify and explain the key events in Canadas development as a Middle Power.
Step 1: The Plot Line:
Using chapter 6 from your textbook, and
any other handouts and information we
have covered this term, create a plot-line
for the story of Canada and the Post-War
World.
It is up to you to decide where the story
begins, where it ends, and which events
make up the rising action, climax and
falling action.
You must include AT LEAST 20 points on your plot line. These points will cover the
important topics from Canadas journey through the post-war world.
Step 2: Plot Line Annotations:
An annotation is a note aded to a text giving further explanation. Accompanying your
plot line, you must include annotations for each point on the plot line. These annotations
should include the following information:

Who was involved?
What happened?
How was Canada involved?
