Grade: 8th Quarter: 1 Unit 1: Human Rights

By the end of the unit, students will answer the following writing prompt: Think about your study of Enders Game. Write a literary essay
in which you determine the theme of Enders Game and analyze how it is developed over the course of the text. Be sure to clearly define the
theme and illustrate its development over the course of the text. Support your theme with reasons and evidence from the text.
Differentiation: Students may/may not need accommodation in the number/type of vocabulary words selected based on individual
goals. Students will have access to a play-away as well as an audiobook recording to support comprehension of the text. Choice is embedded
throughout the unit to provide opportunities for students to select work products that best meet their needs and/or learning styles. Modifications
will address content, product and process in learning.
