2 July 2009
I have just received information on the above event and would like to know if our Scouts would be
interested in entering a team.
You must bear in mind if you would like to take part in this, it is a County Camping Competition
and you will be judged on your patrol camping, Cooking, teamwork and ability skills. There are 2
levels of entry: 'Post and Press Trophy' - Any team can enter this, but you will have to camp and do
everything for yourselves for the entire weekend without any adult help. The other one is 'Tony
Award' which is for the best tenderfoot patrol. This is a patrol that may need some adult help over
the weekend, this can only be entered for first timers of which we will be.
The theme of the camp is based on the historical Moon Landing of Neil Armstrong. The fee will be
£15 per scout which will include a variety of activities at allotted times.
Each patrol that enters will have a separate application form. Depending on who/if you would like
to go, you may not be with your usual patrol.
In addition to the above each patrol must take equipment with them to build a Lunar Transport
System (sedan chair), this will be made at camp and marked for imagination, construction and
performance. Also patrols are expected to plan their own meals and supply the food. On Saturday
evening their will be a competition meal of which a pre-planned meal has to be arranged and a
copy of it submitted at the beginning of camp for marking. This must be made from mostly raw
ingredients.
Please indicate by next week if you would be interested in order for me to work out numbers etc.
