Why we are here for Oceana County
Oceana County averages 61% teen pregnancy compared to Michigans average
of 48.3%.

Also, Medicaid paid births in Oceana County is at 73% compared to Michigan at
45.3%.

Oceana County is also higher in infant mortality and low birth weights than
Michigans average. The Healthy People 2020 target is 36.2 births per 1,000
females compared to 75.2 births per 1,000 females, which presently exist in
this county. With these statistics it is evident that much more is needs to be
done in this area.

Job Descriptions
According to Yoder-Wise (2014), a job description can also be called position
description. A job or position description describes the role and
responsibilities within the organization that the position requires. These
descriptions can be brief or extensive depending on the requirements of the
position. The position description is important so each staff member or board
member understands the expectation of their role.
Visionary Board and Working Board
The visionary board will be
voluntary members and consist of a
physician, hospital administrator,
social worker, high school teacher,
and community leaders. The board
will meet approximately four times
a year and will be filled by
members that hold key positions in
the community. The focus of these
meetings will be structure of the
organization and opportunities for
advancement. These will not be
paid positions.

The working board will meet at the
beginning of each month to
establish goals, discuss finances,
and address possible issues. The

Recruiting committed volunteers for all positions will be very important to the
Teen Resource Center. Yoder-Wise (2014) cites that if potential applicants
have the value that the needs for the patient come first that this value will
also be articulated via the organization. One example of a necessary
volunteer would be the physician on the visionary board. The physician that
volunteers would be required to:
