Rules and Responsibilities

We have three rules this year that need to be followed in all the 5
th
grade
classrooms. They require that students are:

Students are e+,ected to follow these e+,ectations under all circumstances-
no matter where they are in the building.
Behavior System (Butler Bucks)
$n the first of each month each student will receive their monthly .salary-/ of
twenty 'utler 'uc0s. Students will have to turn in one buc0 for each
behavior chec0 earned and three buc0s for each homewor0 chec0. 'ills for
owed buc0s will be given out on !ridays.
The goal for each student is to buy time in .!un !riday./ !un !ridays cost
125 'utler 'uc0s. (nyone who can buy a tic0et at the end of the month can
,artici,ate. Students who cannot ,artici,ate will s,end !un !riday in
detention doing class wor0 and getting e+tra hel,.
( teacher may give out 'utler 'uc0s at any time for good behavior- or as a
bonus for e+ce,tional classroom wor0.
#ost .buc0s/ will not be re,laced. (nyone caught stealing .buc0s/ from
another student will forfeit any future buc0s for the remainder of the year.
Behavior Checks
'ehavior chec0s are given for the following infractions:
com,leted homewor0 left in homeroom
not ,re,ared for class 3no ,en- noteboo0- boo0- etc.4
tal0ing without raising hand
getting out of seat without ,ermission
disres,ecting another student or teacher 3,hysically or verbally4
misusing school su,,lies
bringing a toy to class
ti,,ing chair bac0wards
tal0ing or getting out of line order in the hallway
Each behavior chec0 given will cost the student 2 'utler 'uc0.
Suspension
(ny child who is sus,ended will automatically forfeit entry into !un !riday for
that month.
Office Referral
(ny student referred to the office for ina,,ro,riate behavior will ,ay 25
'utler 'uc0s.
Homework Checks
6omewor0 will generally be given 7onday8Thursday. Students will also be
required to do 95 minutes of inde,endent reading each night. The wee0ends
will be reserved for long8term ,ro:ects and re,orts.
Students will record their homewor0 each day in their assignment
noteboo0s. &t is essential that these noteboo0s go to and from school each
day. They should be 0e,t in the 6omewor0 'inder.

om,leted to the best of each student;s ability. & as0 that students try
every ,roblem- even if they don;t com,letely understand it.

'utler 'uc0s on the first and second days the homewor0 is missing. $n the
third day the wor0 is missing- it is mar0ed a =ero. Students may also be
required to wor0 on the missing assignments at recess. Students with
chronically missing homewor0 will be required to meet with ,arents-
teachers- and the ,rinci,al.
