    During the ongoing Rabi Marketing Season, the Government agencies have procured over 263 lakh tonnes of wheat across various states as of May 21, 2014, which is more than the 246 lakh tonnes procured by the same date last season. Punjab led the procurement with over 113 lakh tonnes, followed by Madhya Pradesh with over 86 lakh tonnes and Haryana with over 64 lakh tonnes. Other states that made significant procurement include Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh.

    More Than 263 Lakh Tonne Wheat Procured
    During ongoing Rabi Marketing Season, the Government agencies have procured more than 263 lakh tonnes
    wheat across the states. As per data available from the fields till 21 May, 2014, total wheat procured during
    the season is 263, 85,171 tonnes while during the previous season, on the day, it was 246, 60,475 tonnes.
    So far Punjab has led the procurement with 113, 81,270 tonnes followed by Madhya Pradesh with 86,
    87,092 tonnes and Haryana with 64, 62,094 tonnes. Other states that made significant procurement during
    the season include Rajasthan 19, 24,834 tonnes, Gujarat 18, 54,011 and UP 11, 67,907 tonnes.
