History Syllabus
I want to welcome you to 11
th
grade United States History. Our class is designed
to be both an engaging and rigorous learning experience. Upon completion of
this course you will have the analytical skills factual knowledge and the writing
abilities necessary to deal effectively with the people issues movements and
events in !merica"s past. #he teaching and study techni$ues have been chosen
to make you directly involved in the study of !merican history. Participation in
class is not suggested, it is required.
Course Content:
#his class will cover all the content standards in the %alifornia framework for 11
th

grade history. #hese include the following&
11.1 Students analy'e the significant events in the founding of the nation and its attempts to reali'e the philosophy of
government described in the (eclaration of Independence.
11.) Students analy'e the relationship among the rise of industriali'ation large*scale rural*to*urban migration and
massive immigration from Southern and +astern +urope.
11., Students analy'e the role religion played in the founding of !merica its lasting moral social and political impacts
and issues regarding religious liberty.
11.- Students trace the rise of the United States to its role as a world power in the twentieth century.
11.. Students analy'e the ma/or political social economic technological and cultural developments of the 10)1s.
11.2 Students analy'e the different explanations for the 3reat (epression and how the 4ew (eal fundamentally changed
the role of the federal government.
11.5 Students analy'e !merica6s participation in 7orld 7ar II.
11.8 Students analy'e the economic boom and social transformation of post*7orld 7ar II !merica.
11.0 Students analy'e U.S. foreign policy since 7orld 7ar II.
11.11 Students analy'e the development of federal civil rights and voting rights.
11.11 Students analy'e the ma/or social problems and domestic policy issues in contemporary !merican society.

your child"s education. I have an open door policy in my classroom and welcome
you anytime any day. I sincerely want your child to be successful in this class
and I will do everything possible to make that happen. I am generally in my
classroom well before school starts and will make time to stay after school to
offer tutoring. !t lunch and nutrition I encourage students to come by my room to
do work for my class or other classes.
