Interpreting Position Cabarrus County Schools 4401 Old Airport Road Concord, NC 28025
Dear Audrey Scurfield:
Your advertisement for a position in the Cabarrus County School District caught my attention as I prepare to begin my professional career as an ASL-English interpreter upon graduation from Central Piedmont Community College with an AAS in Interpreting. I also currently hold a Bachelors Degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in Exercise and Sports Science.
I have worked steadily throughout the program, gaining valuable experience that equips me to present Cabarrus County Schools with advantages others may not offer, due to my prior experience throughout my Co-Op in this school district. I am an exceptional thinker with the ability to problem solve in any situation handed to me due to my critical thinking skills. I also pride myself in my organizational and detail oriented skills which are an absolute must when working in this setting of the interpreting field. I am focused on providing the most effective environment for all participants involved both within and outside of the classroom.
I feel that I would be a great fit for Cabarrus County as I have had extensive previous experience working within this school system over the last year. I have been able to see firsthand what a position in this school system is like and what it takes to be an effective interpreter in this setting. I have also had the opportunity to build relationships in this setting and feel that I would be able to effectively contribute to the interpreting staff.
Throughout the program, while participating in Cabarrus County School District for service learning and Co-Op experience, I acquired strong leadership and interpersonal skills. I am able to think quickly in situations that are presented to me and in those requiring quick assessment of many factors in order to make appropriate decisions. I have dealt with the diverse concerns of students, parents, and faculty and have determined the correct protocol in each situation.
While participating in the Co-Op experience, I have maintained a 4.0 cumulative grade point average. I feel that my degree in Interpreting has provided me with a thorough foundation in the principles that affect these interpreting situations every day.
I would welcome the chance to discuss the position at Cabarrus County Schools. I can be contacted at (585)-503-407. I appreciate your time.
