6. Rinses off all soap with fingertips pointed downward
7. Uses clean, dry paper towel to pat dry all surfaces from tips of fingers
upward to wrist

8. Uses dry towel to turn off faucet
9. Disposes all paper towels in wastebasket immediately, leaves area neat
and clean

10. Does not touch inside of sink at any time or countertops with clothing

WRITE A PRESCRIPTION


1. Fills patient information on Rx
2. Use appropriate medical abbreviations
3. Instruct pt to apply pressure for 1-2 minutes.
4. Remain with pt until bleeding stops. Clean and replace all equipment put
contaminated supplies in biohazard bag. Remove gloves and discard in
biohazard bag. Wash hands.


USE OF GAIT BELT


1. Secure belt around waist of patient making sure 2 fingers may fit under
2. Keep hand on belt while walking beside pt.
