Plot Points:
Exposition:
Guy Montag is a fireman, people who burn things for a living. He along with his
wife, Mildred, live in an dystopian society.

Rising Action:
When Montag meets Clarisse and she asks him if he is happy or not.
When Montag sees a woman burn herself rather than giving up her books,
causing Montag to steal his first book
Captain Beatty goest to Montags house and tells him why the burn books and
why they are not allowed
Montag finds the old man, Faber, that he had seen at the park and gives the
copy of the Bible to him
Mildred and her friends turned in a alarm for Montag
Montag kills the Captain and the Mechanical Hound after being told to burn down
his home
Montag travels to Fabers home and seeks advice on how to escape
A new Mechanical Hound is sent of the trail of the fugitive, Montag

Climax:
When the Hound is very close to Montag, but he escapes by the river

Falling Action:
Montag meets Granger and Book Remembers, people who memorize different
books.
The city and possibly other cities are bombed and annihilated

Resolution:
Montag travels with the Book Remembers and is starts to memorized the Book of
Ecclesiastes.



Symbols:

Fire: Fire symbolises destruction as well as self-awareness and knowledge.

Blood: represents life, passion, lineage (relatives), horror, slaughter, and anger.

Hearth and the Salamander: Heath is the symbol of home and fire, while the salamander
represents the fireman.

The Sieve and the Sand: The sieve is a symbol the knowledge Montag seeks. And the sand is
the fulfillment of his apprehension.

The Phoenix: Represents how mankind will rise from the ashes just as the phoenix does.

Themes:
Censorship
Knowledge vs. Ignorance.
