Welcome to ALEKS

What i s ALEKS? ?
?

Assessment and LEarning in Knowledge Spaces
is a Web-based, artificially intelligent
assessment and learning system.
The Math for College Readiness course is an
ALEKS course.
ALEKS

ALEKS uses adaptive questioning to determine which skills you have
already mastered and which skills need more practice (remediation).

ALEKS then instructs you on the topics you are ready to learn.

ALEKS periodically reassesses you to ensure that the topics you have
mastered are also retained.

How do I know what I have to complete in each module? After you
complete your pretest you will be shown a pie divided into 5 parts (each
being a module) You need to complete the remedial concepts for each
module to master all concepts within that module, and then you are able
to take the test/quiz for that module.
How much work to complete every week? For this course, you will be
required to submit at least of the remedial concepts needed to be
mastered in a module each week. If you are unable to submit that
amount of work, then you will be required to be logged into the class for a
minimum of 4 hours each week.
How can I keep track of the time that I have worked during the week?
On ALEKS it keeps it track for you click on the reports icon in the top
right corner and then click on time and topic and it will show you how
much time you have been in class each day

How do I know what to submit each week if I need to complete the course by
a specific date? Pace charts are available under Course Information on the
announcement page, then click pace. You will have access to several options.
You will have an accelerated pace chart, a traditional pace chart, or if you
want to click on Individual Pace Planner you will be able to put in a specific
date you would like to be finished by. Each pace chart will let you know what
should be done each week until you are finished with both segments.

Do I have to complete remedial concepts in order? Not as long as you are
working in the same module. **It is required to complete modules in order.

How do I get graded for tests-? Each module totals 200 points. You are
required to complete ALL the concepts in Modules 1 and 6. This will give you
100 points for completing all the concepts on the pie slice. When you complete
the module test, you will earn another 100 points.
For Segment One-(Modules 2, 3, 4, 5) and Segment Two-(Modules 7, 8, 9, 10)
you are not required to complete 100% of the concepts. ALEKS will allow
you take the test once you have completed 70% of the concepts. Your final
grade, points earned, in these modules will depend on the number of concepts
mastered. Please contact your instructor with any questions.
Do I get grades for the pretest or progress assessments? No, depending on
how well you do on each, it will add concepts needed to be remediated on your
pie or remove the concepts that have been mastered.
