Description of Teaching Strategy/Learning Activity
As an introduction to Hispanic markets and their products, students will be
comparing the health value of specific products found in a popular online
store. After collecting specific data, they will put together a data analysis
chart, that compares the total fat percent (daily value) to the cost of each
item.

Classroom Implementation Procedures
1. Do now: Read the essential question and write a quick reflection
on the half piece of paper the teacher hands out as you come in.
2. Students share with the three other people on their row and pick
two of their best answers to present to the class.
3. Teacher takes of points for students who do not participate either in
discussion or presentation.
1. -2pt on the class participation-Pre-Unit lesson column in
ASPEN grade book).
4. Students watch a modeled presentation on what to look for , when
browsing the online store
5. Students watch a Presentation on how to plug in the data they
collect into an Inspire Data presentation (this will also be available
on the class website).
6. Students sign out laptops and receive a scavenger hunt worksheet.
7. Teacher takes of points for students who get off task for more than
2 minutes in the individual research activity

8. Students research and fill out the sheet as they collect their data..
1. When finished, they complete the Inspire Data analysis chart
and submit it as a screenshot on their student Google
accounts.
9. Next class, five presentations are chosen to drive a Spanish class
discussion on the results using the expression The product.is
healthier than the product.. and The best cost for your health
is.
1. Lesson will vary from Spanish and English in order to extend
the discussion on Data results.
