I.CourseContentandPhilosophy:
This course focuses on vocabulary development, reading and writing for various
purposes, research, and English usage and mechanics. A variety of literary forms
will be studied including personal narratives, short stories, expository pieces,
novels, poetry, and plays. Students will further their study and research skills,
cooperative learning skills, critical thinking skills, and writing skills.

English, Reading, & Writing studies are geared toward, Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD
Scope and Sequence, the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills), and CCRS
(College and Career Readiness Standards) for English Language Arts.

IV.VocabularyFocus
PSAT/SATPreparationVocabularyProgram
ThisprogramisatwosemesterunitforEnglishIIPreAP.Thewordlistsarecompiledfrom
pastPSATtest,majorliteraryworksfortenthgrade,andtermsusedinAPtestsand
instruction.Testsareweeklyandcumulative.
Additionalvocabularywillcomefromteachermadewordlistsrelatedtospecificreading
assignments.
