Chocolate Lasagna
A few days ago, watching my favorite chocolate Pinterest table
(http://www.pinterest.com/cupcakesgarden/chocolate-mania/), I came to a really childish idea. I
remembered the age old question which my friends and I asked ourselves when we were teenagers.
Which three things would you take with you to a desert island?
Well, Vera, which of all of your chocolate treats would you take to a desert island? I was thinking to
myself and laughing at the same time and knowing it was mission impossible. Of course, after that, you
begin thinking, measuring and comparing different chocolate treats. Soon I was literally drooling :)
Yes, that must be it, I came to the conclusion looking at the beautiful Dark
(http://www.beckybakes.net/2010/12/21/dark-chocolate-cheesecake/) Chocolate Cheesecake
(http://www.beckybakes.net/2010/12/21/dark-chocolate-cheesecake/). And as soon as I came to
that conclusion, a picture of a proud Chocolate pie (http://omgchocolatedesserts.com/chocolate-
midnight-pie/) showed itself to me and asked: Vera, you would seriously go without me? :) I couldnt
settle one situation, when the next one jumped right in front of me: decadent Tiramisu Brownies. Take
us too, they were smiling gingerly. And as time went on, there was less and less trace of an answer.
And while many of chocolate desserts went on, one mysterious dessert was waiting for their five
minutes of fame. And thenkaboooom !!! In front of me was, believe it or not - gorgeous Chocolate
Lasagna (http://www.sugar-n-spicegals.com/2013/07/chocolate-lasagna.html). Wooow, OMG,
wooow!!! That was it! If I ever have to go to a desert island, surely, the desert that I take with myself will
be His Majesty - Chocolate Lasagna :) .
Of course, you can imagine that I was doing this only looking for a next chocolate adventure and there
it was, right in front of me! But my quest wasn't looked so easy. I was scared! Lasagna looked so
Never mind! After about 30. recipes that I have already put on this blog, I have learned a very
important lesson. There is no such thing in my kitchen that will not be eaten in a matter of seconds by
my chocoholics even in case of failure.
And in the end, it was not that bad! Hand on heart, it didnt really look like it did on the best photos on
Pinterest, but, one thing speaks louder than any word: the casserole that I baked my Chocolate Lasagna
in was already waiting to be washed after just a few hours :)

OH MY FREAKING GOODNESS! This looks so delightful! Yummy
Prep time: 25 mins Total time: 25 mins

Light and easy, no-bake layered dessert with crushed Oreo, cream cheese and chocolate pudding, topped with
Cool Whip and chocolate chips.
36 Oreo cookies (regular, not double stuff)
6 tablespoon butter-melted
8 oz cream cheese-softened
cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons cold milk
12 ounce tub Cool Whip-divided
2 3.9 ounce packages Chocolate Instant Pudding.
3 cups cold milk
1 and cups mini chocolate chips
1. In a food processor finely crushed Oreo cookies into fine crumbs.
2. In a large bowl using a fork mix Oreo with 6 tablespoons melted. When the butter is mixed, transfer it to a 9 x
13 inch dish and using a spatula press down the crumbs into the bottom.
3. Transfer the crust in the refrigerator while you are mixing the fillings.
4. Mix the cream cheese until it's fluffy, add 2 tablespoons of milk and sugar, and mix well. Stir in 1 and cups
Cool Whip.
5. Spread the mixture over the crust.
6. In a medium bowl mix chocolate instant pudding with 3 and cups cold milk. Whisk for a few minutes until
the pudding starts to thicken
7. Spread the pudding over the cream cheese layer.
8. Let it sit for 10 minutes to firm up the pudding.
9. Spread remaining Cool Whip over the top and sprinkled with mini chocolate chips.
10. Freezer for 1 hour, or the refrigerate for 4 hours before serving

Hi Rachel,
I would really love to help you but I dont know what you can find in UK.
You can use sweetened whipped cream instead the cool whip, and you can search some recipes for
homemade chocolate pudding( e.g.http://www.browneyedbaker.com/2014/02/04/homemade-
chocolate-pudding-recipe/ (http://www.browneyedbaker.com/2014/02/04/homemade-chocolate-
pudding-recipe/)),just dont spread it hot over the cream cheese filling

Cool whip is just whipped cream and the uk doesnt have boxes of Jello pudding or any brand of a
boxed pudding or just make it from scratch

Sorry Stacy, Cool Whip is NOT whipped cream, it is Non-Dairy whipped topping ( made of oil, not
cream). They are decidedly different.
My only concern with substituting whipped cream in this is that it tends to break down faster than
Cool Whip or a similar product.non-dairy toppings have more body.
And I agree that using cooked pudding would work, just be sure to cool it completely before
assembling the lasagna!

Maybe Angel Delight or Instant whip would work. Cool Whip is a fake cream I dont believe it contains
any dairy at all. A Chantilly whipped cream would be better just more calories!

U can use chocolate angel delight, its the same as pudding, powder you mix with milk. As for cool whip,
its a frozen cream that you top on pies, im not sure if you can use triffle dream topping, just some kind
of cream that will firm up in the freezer.

For June as a diabetic I would have to say the 1/4 c. Sugar the recipe calls for is nothing compared to the
36 oreo cookies and the pudding. To make this sugar free use Murrays Sugar free chocolate sandwich
cookies or Josephs sugar feee chocolate cookies in place of oreos. I would use at least a reduced fat
cream cheese and Splenda for that layer since its no bake. Sugar free chocolate pudding mix is everywhere,
I just use 1 1/2 c milk per box instead of 2 so it gets good and solid. You can use a lite cool whip or whip
your own heavy cream with some Splenda and a touch of vanilla for the cream layer. Should be as good as
the sugar laden version

Well, my word! How much were you planning on eating at one time??
Moderation, people! You dont have to snarf down a quarter of the pan at one time.
If a 2x2 or 3x3 square of this (once a day) gives you diabetes, then you already had blood sugar
problems and you need to take a good look at your OVERALL diet.

tasty! I then made a kind of instant custard (no eggs, just sugar, cocoa, cornstarch and milk) that the
website said was like instant pudding but it totally overpowered the whole dish, you couldnt taste the
other creamy layers at all. I take it this isnt what its meant to be like??! It was v tasty however!
