Expected outcomes:
- To identify the different between must and mustn’t
- To discriminate between verbs that goes with must and mustn’t
- To create sentences with must and mustn’t + verbs without “to”
Resources:
- Must and mustn’t flashcards
- Verb flashcards.
- Whiteboard
- Markers
- Masking tape
Time Comments
Introduction
- The teacher whites on the board the date
- The teacher writes on the board the goals
of the lesson.
- Role calling
Core of the class - The teacher shows the “must” flashcard
Pre-stage and asks their students if they remember it.
- The teacher shows the “mustn’t” flashcard
and asks the same question.
- The teacher elicits the meaning of must
and mustn’t from students.
- The teacher provides a full explanation of
the meaning, difference and usage of must
and mustn’t.
While-stage - The students ask questions.
- The teacher answers the questions.
- The teacher provides examples to make a
clarification of the explanation.
- The teacher asks their students to classify
some verbs (verbs related to environment
issues) under the column of must or mustn’t.
Post-stage - The teacher ask their students how to make
a sentence with the verb and the “must” and
must’.
- The teacher gives their students little cards
Closing with verbs on it and ask them to create some
sentences using must or mustn’t when
corresponding.
