You are advised to spend 60 minutes writing an essay on your chosen question in this booklet.
Write clearly and coherently about at least ONE written text that you have studied:

1. Analyse how the development of relationships between characters helped you understand
the characters in the written text(s).
2. Analyse how the writer helped you understand at least one timeless idea about people, in the

3. Analyse how a writer used language to develop the theme(s) of the written text(s).
4. Analyse how settings are used to help you understand characters in the written text(s).
Note: Settings may include physical settings as well as social and historical contexts, and
may be real or imaginary (as in fantasy or science ction texts).
5. Analyse how the beginning and / or ending of the written text(s) held your attention.
6. Analyse how a writer developed confict(s) for a purpose in the written text(s).
7. Analyse how tension was created for a purpose in a particular section of the written text(s).
8. Analyse how techniques of a genre or text type made the text(s) particularly effective for you.

script, print or non-ction texts, digital or online texts).
