An individual went to a hospital in order to be operated due to a lodged canister in
his anus. The medical employees of the hospital operated on the patient. However, during the procedure the said employees recorded a video of the operation. The operation was successful. Later, one of the doctors who operated on the said patient told the latter that they recorded a video of the patients operation and will use it for academic (?) purposes. The said doctor mentioned that they will keep it and ensure that the privacy of the patient will not be jeopardized. With this assurance the patient agreed for the video to be kept by the doctor.
A few days later, the barangay captain of the place where the patient lives summoned the latter and showed an uploaded video of his operation. The video was filled with jeers and cheers against the patient coming from those employees who operated on him. The patient felt violated and filed a complaint in the hospital and the DOH. The involved doctors were suspended but were allowed to return to work after six months.
Was the suspension, as a penalty, enough? Should the doctors be even more liable to the said patient for damages? ADD ADD ADD TOMORROW
