WEEKLY INTERNSHIP REPORT
12/05/2014 TO 19/05/2014

Starting from this week I found that the workload at the courts was
decreasing gradually as the district courts would be closed by the end of this
month and the High Court and the Supreme Court by the 15
th
, hence I had
lesser opportunities to observe court proceedings and my work at the office
increased in proportion.
My methodology for the 3
rd
week is again observation with a larger emphasis
on interview. I was required to formulate various drafts and was taught the
finer details about them. I learned about the extent of use of Plain English in
Indian courts. I also gained information about some notices and their
drafting. I also had an opportunity to view the past files of cases of the firm
and my knowledge about various facets of law was increased.
For the rest my duties remained the same, I was required to type out certain
documents as they were dictated by lawyers and photocopying of documents
for court purposes, the duty of adhesion of stamps and such to court
documents were also sometimes given to me. All these functions at the most
basic level are I think instrumental in giving me an all-rounded approach to
practicing law, I believe one should be familiar with each and every aspect of
it.
In the research area my skills have improved as the lawyers taught me some
tips and tricks to quickly get results through speed reading and looking for
certain phrases, and also by employing certain ways to search through the
search engine which filters the results more effectively. I also looked up
precedents on sites like Indiakanoon.org under the guidance of lawyers.
Over all I received good training in research which will be of use to me for a
long time.
In conclusion it was a fruitful week and I am eagerly looking forward to my
last week at this firm.
