Generic DFMEA overview
Aim: to identify failures proactively. Avoid potential
failures through the elimination of failure causes.
Users: HP NGV Designers
Benefits
Shorter development period a complete DFMEA can be
developed from the Generic DFMEA, expanding on
specific risks unique to the design.
Right first time The generic DFMEA suggests potential
risks that are likely to arise, allowing the designers to
take action in reducing these risks before
testing/manufacturing.

Lack of constraints
- Using a House of Quality diagram to identify the correlation(strength
and +/-)
- Construct P-diagram
- Using the P-diagram to limit complexity
P-diagram limits the content but does not provide a critical judgement
whether the risk is valid
-Action driven , we ask "Can this risk actually be reduced?", remove
'non-value adding' DFMEA risks
-avoid information paralysis
If used properly, value adding and reduce time needed to pass design
gate.
DG01 Parameter - short task
Critical Path analysis - design phase phase of aerofoil has to be sped up -
DG01 creaded as a preliminary tool for stress and cooling designer
Given standard set of specification, DG01 can quickly produce preliminary
data and aerofoil for designers to work in parallel to the optimisation of the
aerofoil.

Area of improvement:
Same as for DFMEA - the ability to use Macro to improve interface
