Green Action Project Neemrana.

The dream is to fight shoulder to shoulder with the Poor to change people's
condition and create a reality where they can take good care of their environment. That the
communities, bigger and smaller, organize themselves and act collectively, that they ensure
that they know how to protect their environment and natural resources while they also create
a livelihood and act in the reality of today and of the future. That the ones with the money
and the possibilities to make the bigger changes so as to avoid land degradation, water
scarcity, and food insecurity. Do their part while activism among the people in common
creates development.
The vision is that thousands of people take up the fight together, organized
collectively, gathering experiences, gaining strength and moving towards making the dream
a reality area by area. To see Green Action projects that each day speak through their
actions and tell all involved that in development all achievements are born from what is
already there and by attacking a problem from many angles you can create new ways to
move forward. The Green Action projects is a response to the environmental questions that
destroy nature, deplete natural resources, diminish peoples possibilities of doing
agriculture for a living and hamper economic development.
The strategy is to organize people to act to protect the environment, their production
and their water availability one by one and together.
Specific activities in the strategy are:
Improve water discharge, management and usage among farmers and industrialists.
Promote participation of villagers in the affected communities in water harvesting and
trainings on improved farming methods.
Organize exposure visits for farmers to get insight into new technologies for
agriculture development.
Establishing model fields for demonstration of new technology in farming.
Promote backyard gardening, tree planting and general environment conservation
among rural households.
Build a biogas plants as an environmentally friendly energy and rural fertilizer source.
The project will to encourage and mobilizing more families to establish biogas plants.

Biogas project in Neemrana.

The project will be implemented in Neemrana Block, Alwae District in Rajastan
where is need for showing a good example of an alternative new and renewable energy
sources.
The population of India is increasing day by day. The increasing population pressure
has disturbed the natural balance. Energy sources are decreasing day by day. India is an
agriculture based country where animals are required in Agriculture. The dung available
from them is either used as organic manure or for making dung cakes for cooking. This
valuable resource is fully utilized in both of these cases. If instead the same resource cattle
dung is fed into a biogas plant, we not only get fuel in the form of gas for cooking and
lightening, but also rich organic manure and that too, in larger quantity and better usable
form then the farm yard manure.
Biogas is obtained in the process of biodegradation of organic materials under
anaerobic conditions. Therefore production of methane gas from livestock waste under
anaerobic condition is the best alternative source of energy from organic waste. Even not
only animal but also agricultural waste can be utilized for this purpose. The left over
decomposed slurry is a good source of manure for agricultural lands. Thus biogas plants help
in total recycling of organic wastes in an environment friendly manner. The use of biogas
can reduce the pressure on these forests and allow it to regenerate. This is however
possible if maximum number of people adopts the biogas technology.

The task is to build 50 biogas plants. In collaboration with Humana People to People Italia
Onlus 10 stations in 2 years. And in collaboration with The Australian High Commission provide 40
households across 10 villages with bio gas plants that would produce clean sustainable and
renewable fuel for cooking and illumination. Time of the project is 8 months.
In Neemrana project from 07 January to 06 March 2014 I took part in the construction of biogas
plants. In order to build a biogas plant is required:
Farmers should be informed and suitable candidates are selected.
It is important to choose a suitable location for the biogas plant. They, for example, cant be
located in densely populated areas or in the shadows.
Preparatory work as digging trenches, cement and brick purchased.
Specially trained master does a biogas plant construction.
Biogas stations filling with water-manure mixture.
Very important is the continuous monitoring of all the work.
Exposure visit to Dausa district. To explore the biogas plant operation was organized tour for
interested farmers to Dausa district. We visited the farm with previously constructed biogas plants.
We met farmers and talked about biogas plants operational pros and cons. We visited a good biogas
plants that are suitable for demonstration. The participants showed great interest in the trip and
were very pleased. In a tour participated 10 farmers and almost all were ready to build biogas plant
on their farms.

Farmers Training Programme Rabi Season. SAB Miller India-CII-HUMANA Initiative
for Augmentation and Sustainable Management of Water Resource in Neemrana Industrial
and Adjoining Areas, Alwar District, Rajasthan. It was a 3 day long training program from 8
to 10 January. At this time, 3 expert teams visited 26 villages. In each gave a 2-hour lecture. I
participated in 4 meetings. Each was assembled from 20 to 30 farmers. There were also
discussions.

Exposure visit for Farmers on water saving practice. 4 February. The meeting was
initiated by Rucy Beer brewery, which is also Humana partner. The meeting was held in the
brewery area. It was a really good lecture about water saving issues in the region, with the
PowerPoint presentations. Then brewery representative presented the malting barley
production. Now the factory uses from other regions imported malting barley. Although the
performance was good with the demo field visit, the farmers did not response. One of the
reasons is that barley straw can be used as animal feed.

Other activities of daily living. Together with project leaders we made face to face
farmers club members visits. Farmers were aware of the biogas plant construction, planned
meetings and discuss current issues.

Green Action Project takes part also in the 1.000.000 tree-planting campaign. In late
December was prepared the nurseries. In late February held a tree seeds planting action in
plastic bags. March 6, is shown the first germinating seedlings. As the dry season, plants
need watering.

There was also office cleaning. It was arranged a new space for guests. It was
cleaned roof. It was cleaned and arranged office space.

I also visited the Academy for Working Children Neemrana. AWC provided 3 hours of
daily schooling for children who for any reason do not attend school. I had the happy
opportunity to participate in the Republic Day celebration event in AWC.
Every day was an opportunity to meet and interact with local people.

Projects I arrive with no prior knowledge. My judgments I can build on the daily
acquired information. First, Google Maps, I should point my location. Then held introduction
talks with the leaders of the project. We agree on the working and living arrangements.
Usually the first week is very much an active, new people, places, introductory visits. Team
all have shown what they think is necessary. The following real life begins. Appears
collective internal structure. I have to find my place and occupation.
The biogas project is specific to the fact that the meetings, speeches, presentations,
preparing of papers, good pictures are not enough. There is a need for production-ready,
high quality biogas plants. For the team it is a big challenge.
