Unit title Community Project MYP year Year 4 Unit duration (hrs) 21hrs
Inquiry: Establishing the purpose of the unit
Key concept: Relationships Related concept(s): Community, action, service Global context: Globalization and sustainability
Relationships are the connections and associations
between properties, objects, people and ideas
including the human communitys connection with the
world in which we live. Any change in relationships
bring consequences some of which may occur on a
small scale, while others may be far reaching,
affecting large networks and systems like human
societies and the planetary ecosystem.

Students will explore the interconnectedness of
human-made systems and communities; the
relationship between local and global processes; how
local experiences mediate the global; the
opportunities and tensions provided by world-
interconncetedness; the impact of decision-making
on humankind and the environment.
Statement of inquiry: Construct a statement of inquiry for a unit by combing a key concept/s, one or more related concepts and a global context into a meaningful
statement that students can understand. Refer to pp59- 60 of Handout and Subject Guide for examples.

This is similar to our Overarching Ideas statements, however I think it is important that you only use these as a starting point.
Work together as a group to come up with a statement of inquiry for your Unit of Work.

Inquiry questions: Inquiry questions are drawn from and inspired by the statement of inquiry.
Refer to pp. 60 of Handout Notes and each specific subject guide.
As a group discuss some possible inquiry questions for your unit of work.
