In the beginning of the gold workshop #4 we all completed a hand out that told us the

style of leader we all were as individuals. As for my case the gold workshop made me discover

that I am leader with a particular style called systematic. People with this particular style of

leading provide a structure for activities which helps stay on track with projects and other tasks.

They make sure that they or no one overlooks the important details. Systematic leaders also

make decisions based on facts and have a strong orientation toward the objectives accuracy.

We also learned about the 5 stages of group formation witch are very important when it

comes to working with other people trying accomplish the same objective. The first one was The

forming stage witch takes place when the team first meets each other and share personal

information, this is a very important stage because it gives you an idea of how you and other

people will work together.

The second stage was the storming stage, in this stage the member of the group finish

getting to know each other and start sharing their ideas in how thing should be done. This is an

important process because every team member has the opportunity to put something on the table

that might lead to a great way to accomplishing the main objective.

The next stage was the norming stage where the team begins working together and where

they arent focused on their individual or teammates goals but on developing a way to stay

together while respecting each others opinions and value their differences and at the same time

completing a task or project.

The forth stage was the performing stage where the teams functionality is at its best at

this stage of the game the members of the group should rely and trust each other while

completing their part of the job the best and most efficient way possible. This stage is crucial for

the outcome of the over all objective.

And last but not least was the adjourning stage, this is the concluding part of the whole

process, and its where the team members start heading into different directions, of course after

celebrating their success (if they had any ).

Learning about these different stages and discover my style of leading will really help me

when I am assigned to a group project and I am surrounded by people I have never meet before.

Jobs and school in general always demand the ability to be able to work with others, it is a skill

that I personally think I have plenty of. I have always loved to work in a team oriented

environment and although I was already familiar with a subject such as team work I was glad I

learned about the 5 stages of group formation. I am sure the knowledge I gained will help me in

the future as a student and future professional.
